Jose Canseco wants to throw his hat back into the MMA ring. This time against former NFL running back, Herschel Walker.
“I guess I may have to show Herschel Walker who the real bad Boy of the Sports industry is. If the powers that be are reading, I want in,” said Canseco via his Twitter account Monday night.
Walker, a two-time Pro Bowl selection in the NFL, recently won his MMA debut two days earlier, defeating Greg Nagy in the third round during Strikeforce: Miami. Canseco on the other hand, lost his only MMA fight last May against 7-foot-2-inch Choi Hong-man in the first round. Yikes. I would compare that to losing to Cleveland Cavalier center Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
Canseco may have to rethink his challenge against Walker, who looked in great shape against Nagy. Canseco recently defeated Todd Poulton in a Celebrity Boxing Federation bout in Springfield, MA.
I would have to take Walker in a first round knockout. But isn’t the match we all want to see is Mark McGwire take on Canseco in the octagon?
We had a great show on Saturday with two very good interviews. First, we had another installment of our “Big Ten Coaches Tour”, as we welcomed Penn State Quarterback Coach, JAY PATERNO on the show to talk about the upcoming season at PSU, how long his father has left in the tank, Jay’s past QB “students” and their success, and finally, discussed how in tune JoePa is with Twitter and new social media.
We then welcomed ERIC KOIVISTO from Trench Fantasy Football to discuss a new way to play the game. In the trenches, where the game is won and lost. Very interesting to hear his formula and take on the Browns ranking.
We also hit on WWE as sports entertainment, not a sport, Jose Canseco, Reggie Miller, Browns/Packers preview, and how Michael Vick will do in a Eagles uniform.

The Dugout Sports Show gave you their reactions to all the MLB trades that were made at the deadline. From Victor Martinez going to Boston to Jarrod Washburn going to Detroit. Also, we covered the Jake Peavy deal, as we had ADAM RUSSELL, one of the players traded from Chicago to San Diego. Adam, who is from the Cleveland area, talked about his reaction and what he expects going to San Diego. He also noted that Glenn was a 10x better hitter than he was. Great guy and good luck to him at S.D.
Also, we had UFC/MMA Legend FRANK SHAMROCK on the show. He talked about his sour relationship with UFC and how he wants to fight Dana White. Also, look for his new book coming out next year and he is making a comeback. Look for him in the octagon very, very soon.
And finally, AMY K. NELSON, from ESPN, joined us to talk a little about the MLB steroid issue. She gave her two cents about the situation, as it was a very interesting interview.
