Dan Majerle, former Cleveland Cavalier and current Phoenix Suns assistant coach. (NBA.com)
I had the chance to interview former Cleveland Cavalier and current Phoenix Suns assistant coach DAN MAJERLE when DSS was in Arizona covering spring training. Majerle played with the Cavs during the 1995-96 season, averaging 10.6 points and 3.7 rebounds a game. He is well-known for his play for the Phoenix Suns and played a total of 123 playoff games in his career.
“Thunder Dan” was known for his three point shooting but early in his career, it was his thunderous dunks that gave him his nickname. He also played on the US National Team in the 1994 FIBA World Championship, winning a gold medal.
We discussed him being booed when the Suns drafted him, converting from player to announcer and announcer to coach. We also hit on his most famous dunks growing up and also his movie debut and much more.
Also wanted to give a shoutout to Dan’s restaurant Majerle’s, which is located in downtown Phoenix.

Bronson Arroyo, Cincinnati Reds pitcher
I had the chance to interview Cincinnati Reds pitcher BRONSON ARROYO while at the Reds spring training facility in Goodyear, Arizona. A very unique man, from his pitching delivery to his hobbies.
We discussed his delivery, how he came to using it, his music career, his outlook on the Reds this year, his spring so far, and his battles with carpal tunnel syndrome.
Look for Bronson to be on The Dugout Sports Show more often during the season as this interview is brought to you by: OneSource Optimal Nutrition.

While in Arizona, I had the chance to interview former LA Dodgers manager TOMMY LASORDA. It was an awkward interview to say the least. I was told when he’s cranky, it may not be a good interview. Obviously from the video below, this was one of his cranky days. I asked him about Manny Ramirez and the possibility of him playing overseas, what he thought of the Dodgers this year, and his view on MLB’s proposed alignment.
